Very powerful. Having recently gone through an experience that seems to echo in your words here, reading this hurts a bit (which is a complement - you've captured the emotions very deftly).

My favorite lines:

...some remnant of a memory lost in the folds and folds of it all where you and I slumbered side by side, comatose in a gorgeous thicket of dreams.
..it is the only certainty I have, for we were not a product of genetics or predisposition; we were a perfect sum of you and I. No variables. No lies. No doubt.

Again - powerful, delicately and beautifully rendered, aching... it's perfectly crafted, in my opinion. Excellent work - I'd love to see more... although I'm gonna steel myself for your impact next time
